I attended Study Programme and my Tutor was Gary. It was an 18 week course. In these weeks I passed Maths Level 1, ICT, Retail and Employability Skills. I really enjoyed the Study Programme because I knew that if I had a problem outside of GK I could talk to anyone and they would help and support me. I met new people and people who I hadn’t seen in a long time. I am proud with how I did and I have proved to myself that I can do it when I put my mind to it!

I then started a Traineeship programme. My tutor has been Shaunna and this has been a 6 Month programme. I enjoyed this just as much! I am proud with what I have achieved and hope to achieve when I get my results back. I have had a lot of support from Shaunna, Chloe, Kelly, Hayley and Clare. They helped me to realise that I can do things when I put my mind to it.

She began with us on Study Programme. She did extremely well and progressed on to a Traineeship programme and helped her secure a placement at a local dental practice. Towards the end of the Traineeship programme she secured a job. She is now a fully qualified dental nurse.

Hi Chloe ! It’s been a while. I hope you are well. I was just emailing you to tell you that I have passed all of my exams in Dental Nursing and I am now fully qualified! Who’d have thought! I now work for a lovely little practice in Atherton. We have worked with GK Training for the past 4 years and have found them to be an extremely professional company who are always available to help and support us. They are a relatively small organisation compared to Robinsons Country Leisure, but they provide an excellent quality of training and support, and respond very quickly to any requests for information. Due to the nature of our business, we sometimes have to cancel appointments with GK Training but they are always happy to rearrange and train our staff at any time, 24/7.

Our Call Centre staff have all achieved their Customer Service NVQ Level 2 and our Superstore staff have also completed their Customer Service qualification and are currently working towards their apprenticeships in Retail Skills. We have found that we are receiving more repeat business and increased customer satisfaction rates and we believe that this is as a direct result of the training and support provided by GK Training.

Aspiring Futures provides careers support for a range of ages from 15-25, this includes young people with Education & Health Care Plans, those who are NEET and school leavers. Aspiring Futures continue to work successfully with GK Training as one of the main Study Programme training providers in the borough and we regularly refer to them.

 

Working with management and staff at GK is a privilege; we regularly contact them by phone and email. They respond in a timely manner and are very professional and courteous.

They offer taster sessions; this is positive as the young people can get a feel for the place they are going to attend, and it helps to meet the tutors prior to attending a course. The young people who attend have a varied and well organised experience and are very happy to go there, often going on to attend another term to complete qualifications.

Financial support is offered, and this is a welcome support to families where needed.

 

The staff are friendly and empathic and really care about the young people in their establishment, who come from a variety of situations, often having no qualifications, having little or zero confidence and self-esteem, as well as a range of personal and social barriers.  GK have a strong pastoral support network, helping the young people as they know that they have someone to confide in if needed. 

 

The courses are flexible, offering adapted timetables for young people who may struggle in a full-time setting; and offering 1-1 if that is what the young person requires to progress. The education and support provided makes a huge difference, being so positive and promoting the life chances for our young people.’
